Common questions and answers

  • Yes! We offer services in Mornington and Frankston South.

  • During your 50-60 minute initial consultation, we'll discuss your complaint, medical history, and conduct a bio-mechanical examination. Please wear comfortable clothing. Treatment includes a detailed plan and long-term management strategies, such as exercises you can perform at home and may recommend adjunct therapies to maximise your recovery. These may include stretches, mobilisation techniques, nutritional supplementation and life-style modifications.

  • Initial consultations take 50-60 minutes, while return appointments vary from 30 to 60 minutes depending on the case.

  • Just like treatment needs differ from one person to the next, treatment outcomes vary from individual to individual. Many people notice improvements within 1-3 treatments but complex conditions may take longer to respond. The speed of recovery depends on the severity of a given condition, its duration as well as life-style factors which we will discuss during your initial consultation.

  • No. Your treatment plan will be individually tailored to you and your circumstances. Depending on your overall condition, we may work together for a period of time, but we don’t advocate for ‘cookie cutter’ plans.

  • If it’s been more than a few months between visits or if the condition you’re seeking treatment for is new, it’s a good idea to book a longer consult. The same applies if your complaint(s) involve multiple areas or you think that your condition is complex, i.e. when there is an extensive medical history.

  • No, you can choose to see an osteopath for any number of reasons without a medical referral. However, if you have a referral from your GP you may be eligible for Medicare subsidised treatments. Please see below.

  • GPs can issue referrals for osteopathic treatment under Medicare to patients with persistent conditions such as lower back pain or arthritis. These referrals are often referred to as Care Plans.

Under a Medicare Care Plan, you will receive a rebate of approx. $60 towards your osteopathic treatment for up to 5 times per calendar year, depending on the referral. You will be liable for the remainder, called a ‘gap’.

If you have a Medicare referral from your doctor, please bring the referral to your initial appointment for the rebate.

  • Osteopathic treatment is always tailored to the individual patient and can easily be adapted to younger patients. Babies and children only require very gentle treatment and generally respond with ease. This means osteopathy is suitable and safe even for very young children.

While we only treat children over the age of 3, I am more than happy to recommend colleagues experienced in the treatment of babies and very young children.

  • Osteopathic treatment is suitable and can increase comfort and well-being throughout all stages of pregnancy.

  • Yes. My fees are eligible for private health insurance rebates. I will issue you a receipt for you to forward on to your insurer for reimbursement.

As individual cover varies, please contact your insurance for details on your rebates.

  • Yes. If you have a current claim under WorkSafe or TAC and have been approved for osteopathic treatment, please let me know of your claim details prior to your initial appointment.

WorkSafe payments are processed differently from TAC. For this reason, clients under WorkSafe must pay the full fee on the day and claim their rebate through their employer’s insurance.

Please note: If you fail to notify me of your claim details prior to your initial consultation, I will need to verify your claim during the time allocated for your consultation. Should I be unable to verify your claim during your initial consultation, you will need to pay the full amount at the end of your treatment.

  • Item descriptionRebates for osteopathic treatment under DVA are available but vary depending on DVA status. You’ll also need a referral from your GP to initiate the process.

Please check the department’s website here for rebates and details on the process before booking your appointment with me.
